Our client is a non-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) that facilitates organ and tissue recovery. They support, and honor their donor families, and educate the community it serves about donation and transplantation. They serve a population of 13 million people in the greater NYC area and its neighboring counties. They partner with 11 transplant centers and nearly 100 hospitals to ensure that an individual’s wishes to donate are honored and lives are saved.
The Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) will own the employee experience, execute their people strategy in collaboration with leadership, lead and design employee-focused initiatives that support the organization and enhance a culture that exemplifies their core values.
Responsibilities:
- Provides advice and guidance to leadership to assure appropriate consideration of legal issues and to minimize risk in the achievement of the organization’s mission and goals.
- Provide both tactical day-to-day and strategic HR services.
- Oversees education and training department.
- Ensures the organization follows all applicable laws.
- Develops programs to ensure equity among staff and to continually improve employee morale and communication within the organization.
- Supports and fosters the mission of the organization and its commitment to tissue and organ donation.
- Assures that risk is understood and that the organization meets its legal responsibilities as a non-profit organization. Keeps leadership informed of any legislation, regulations or legal events that would impact operations.
- Establishes programs and processes to ensure compliance; oversees training for staff and manages the implementation of the organization’s conflict of interest policy, including the annual disclosure process.
- Investigates and resolves Corporate Compliance issues or concerns.
- Serves as an effective change agent in integrating, aligning, and enhancing human resources in order to achieve defined organizational objectives.
- Provides decision-making support for departmental managers, directors, VPs and CEO.
- Makes actionable recommendations on human resource strategies.
- Oversee talent acquisition; hiring, advertisements, developing appropriate testing and screening methodologies, and performing screening interviews.
- Collaborate with leadership to create a workforce development plan that supports our talent acquisition strategy by anticipating future talent needs and challenges. Ensures a smooth “onboarding” process.
- Oversees all aspects of education and training for new hires and continuing education.
- Develops, reviews, and revises personnel policy and procedures, and assures that all staff have access to the current Employee SOP.
- Evaluates current workplace policies to ensure equity.
- Oversees all employer/employee relations. Investigates and responds to employee issues in a timely professional manner.
- Ensures that Human Resources is seen as effective, accessible, and valuable.
- Evaluates, administers and participates in the selection of all benefits programs (e.g., health insurance, pension funds, EAP, etc.).
- Tracks and analyzes human resource metrics to ensure organizational needs are met.
- Assures that job descriptions are current and reflect organizational needs.
- Leads compensation review process.
- Participates in decisions involving salary reviews, increases, bonuses, and incentive models.
- Support and develop managers as trusted business partners, equipping them with standardized frameworks and individualized solutions.
- Trains Directors and Managers regarding human resource issues.
- Provides in all actions involving employee grievances, performance improvement plans, discipline, as well as rewards, and recognition.
- Design and implement learning and development, career path, and job-leveling programs unlocking our team 's potential to grow in their careers.

- Be a leader and advocate for our company culture; ensuring our mission and values are understood and put into practice.
- Promote Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging across the organization ensuring awareness of underrepresented perspectives and internal training on equitable procedures.
- Authority to hire and fire employees and recommend for advancement or promotion while using independent judgment and discretion insignificant matters of company policy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years’ progressive managerial experience in human resources administration. Proven track record of effecting meaningful changes in a fast-growing organization.
- Knowledgeable in innovative, cutting-edge HR practices & trends; a strong leader who leads change and transformation. Demonstrated ability to train and develop people, and to handle multiple tasks in a complex environment. Proven ability to exercise excellent judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Previous management of staff and understanding of the healthcare industry is preferred. Strong project management skills with a proven ability to design and implement people strategy that drives business results.
Salary: $225,000 - $250,000. This salary range is not a guarantee. The actual salary will be based on qualifications, experience, and education and could fall outside of this range. Contact us for more information.
