Job Description
Our client, a large health network, is hiring an accomplished physician leader to serve as Vice Chair of Ambulatory Care Services. This executive role provides strategic and operational leadership over the system’s ambulatory network, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing clinical and research initiatives in the New York metropolitian area.
The Vice Chair will work closely with department leadership, hospital administration, and faculty to enhance access, operational efficiency, and clinical excellence across multiple outpatient sites, including community clinics and specialty care centers. This individual will also play a pivotal role in recruitment, mentorship, and program development, aligning ambulatory services with the health system’s mission and long-term strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Provide vision and direction for ambulatory care services, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and best practices in patient care, education, and research.
- Oversee clinical operations, workflow optimization, and patient throughput to enhance efficiency, quality, and access to care.
- Partner with hospital administration to implement value-based care models, improve patient experience, and optimize financial performance.
- Develop and expand ambulatory programs, including telemedicine, integrated care models, and population health initiatives.
Clinical & Academic Excellence
- Maintain an active clinical presence, serving as a role model for faculty and trainees.
- Support evidence-based clinical practice, quality improvement initiatives, and innovative care delivery models.
- Drive excellence in education by fostering mentorship and professional development opportunities for faculty, residents, and fellows.
- Strengthen collaborations between ambulatory and inpatient services to ensure seamless care transitions and multidisciplinary integration.
Faculty Development & Recruitment
- Lead faculty recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring a diverse and highly skilled workforce.
- Mentor and develop junior faculty, fostering career advancement and leadership growth.
- Cultivate a culture of inclusivity, academic achievement, and professional engagement.
Research & Innovation
- Encourage and support faculty participation in clinical research, health services research, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Partner with research leadership to expand funding opportunities and integrate research into ambulatory settings.
Qualifications & Experience
- MD/DO degree with board certification.
- Eligible for medical licensure in New York.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in ambulatory care within an academic or large health system.
- Proven ability to drive operational improvements, implement evidence-based practices, and lead multidisciplinary teams.
