Description: Our client, a nationally renowned academic medical center and integrated healthcare delivery system, is currently hiring an Administrator, Pathology.

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Directs and manages the fiscal, operational, strategic, human and information resources for the Department of Pathology
  • Partners with the Department Chair in the design, coordination and implementation of the department agenda and administrative aspects.
  • Develops, monitors and ensures budgets and volumes are within targets
    Implements fiscal management systems to meet financial goals through forecasting, monitoring of expense trends, preparation of Contribution Margin variance analyses.
  • Functions as the administrative point of contact to leadership for identifying and resolving operational issues, communicating information and facilitating required actions.
  • Manages the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervising of staff.
  • Oversee the administrative component and budget of the Research Program.
  • Collaborate with the Chair and the Director of Grants and Program Development on recruitment, hiring, training, and supervising of scientists, research managers, fellows and techs.
  • Coordinate budget activities with Director of Budgeting.
  • Establishes development plans and annual performance goals and assesses performance to recommend and approve merit, incentive and promotional increases for department staff.
  • Directs administrative functions needed to recruit, hire and retain Clinical Faculty.
  • Coordinates with key roles inside and outside of the department involved in revenue cycle activities to ensure accurate and timely collections.
  • Ensure optimal provider schedule utilization, coordinated scheduling using decision trees for diagnosis-based appointments, and reviewing appointment performance metrics.
  • Directs space planning and space utilization efforts.
  • Prepares and works with design and construction to create budgets and execute capital projects.
  • Direct activities related to marketing, PR, and communication.
  • Oversee the development and management of the physician relationship program for Pathology.

Job Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, marketing, or healthcare administration, required
  • Master's degree in finance, marketing, or healthcare administration, preferred
  • 5+ years of work-related experience in health care administration/financial experience in budget planning, business process analysis, human resource management and program and strategic development
  • Experience in an academic medical setting is preferred
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently
