Job Description
Our client, a nationally renowned academic medical center and integrated healthcare delivery system known for innovation, excellence in patient care, and advancing the field of medicine, is hiring an IT Category Manager to join their dynamic team and support their mission-driven organization through strategic sourcing and vendor management. The IT Category Manager is a strategic sourcing professional responsible for managing the end-to-end source-to-contract process for IT-related spend within a healthcare setting. This role requires deep expertise in IT procurement, contract management, and supplier negotiations. The individual will be tasked with ensuring optimal value from IT investments while collaborating cross-functionally with key stakeholders across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead sourcing strategies and contract management for IT categories including cloud solutions, hardware, software/SaaS, licensing, and IT professional services.
- Develop and issue RFPs/RFIs, analyze vendor proposals, and manage contract lifecycle.
- Conduct market analysis, spend assessments, and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Drive supplier negotiations to secure favorable terms and ensure performance against deliverables.
- Collaborate with clinical, technical, and operational stakeholders to define business and functional requirements.
- Maintain communication plans and prepare regular departmental updates.
- Coordinate multiple concurrent projects and initiatives across the Health System.
- Ensure compliance with internal protocols and project plans.
- Establish key performance indicators and ensure quality execution of sourcing strategies.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for vendor and contract-related inquiries.
- Support strategic business planning by researching and analyzing data and processes.
- Provide departmental direction and ensure effective change communication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Health Administration (MHA) preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in contract and vendor management, with a focus on IT spend categories.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing within enterprise IT domains.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Advanced knowledge of RFP/RFI processes, supplier evaluation, and contract development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and build consensus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and experience with ERP systems, contract management tools, and inventory systems.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in a healthcare or academic medical center environment preferred
- Familiarity with EDI/GHX systems, inventory management software, and supply chain tools preferred
- Strategic sourcing and procurement best practices.
- IT category spend management (Cloud, SaaS, Hardware, etc.).
- Accounting principles, cost analysis, and budget forecasting.
- ERP systems and contract management software.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and partner with stakeholders at all levels.
