Description: Our client, a world-class, patient-centered, integrated, academic medical center, is currently seeking to hire a Supervisor for Out Patient Billing. The Supervisor for Out Patient Billing will be responsible for the direct supervision of applicable staff and for ensuring quality outcomes. The Supervisor for Outpatient Billing will perform root cause analysis on identified issues and identify the proper criteria for running, reviewing and assigning reports as necessary. The Supervisor for Out Patient Billing candidate responsibilities include personnel management, total account resolution from cashiering, registration, charge capture and billing to account follow-up, ensuring optimal customer relations, maximizing cash collection and ensuring quality cash services.

  • Confirms receipt of third party claims and re-bills claims as necessary;
  • Reviews assigned accounts in Epic and third party remittances to determine accounts requiring action;
  • Performs root cause analysis with a solutions focus;
  • Supervise the daily operations of the team including all staff, AR follow-up and agencies;
  • Develops and maintains productivity standards for areas of direct responsibility and monitors adherence to those standards;
  • Monitors staff attendance and punctuality on a regular basis and maintains payroll system for department
  • Hold monthly staff and agency meetings
  • Perform "data mining" and in-depth accounts receivable analysis
  • Analyzes any open balances and/or insures accurate payment posting.
  • Completes appropriate follow-up action as necessary.
  • Provides coaching and feedback to staff in areas of responsibility and completes probationary and annual performance appraisals for staff
  • Monitor staff and agency performance through monthly audits and random reviews;
  • Conduct individual monthly meetings with staff to review results and provide feedback, including steps and solutions to address any issues

Educational Requirements:
  • Associates Degree and/or 3-5 years of medical billing and collections experience.
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Knowledge of PC applications and Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience Requirements:
  • Supervisory experience, at least one year preferred
  • Industry certification (AHIMA, HFMA, AAPC, etc.) preferred
  • EHR experience (Epic preferred).
  • ePremis ( billing software) experience preferred
