Job Description

Our client, a leading healthcare organization dedicated to providing exceptional services and promoting health equity, is hiring a highly strategic and experienced Director of Revenue Cycle to lead and optimize their revenue cycle functions across multiple sites. Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of the full revenue cycle, including billing, coding, collections, and payer relations, with a focus on maximizing reimbursement and reducing revenue leakage.
  • Analyze reimbursement trends, identify opportunities to improve revenue capture, and develop initiatives to proactively minimize denials and optimize collections.
  • Lead efforts to evaluate and enhance billing processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations such as FQHC, Article 28, and Article 31 standards.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical, operational, IT, and finance leadership to improve documentation workflows, revenue integrity, and overall financial performance.
  • Oversee a team of 8–9 billing professionals, providing mentorship, strategic direction, and ongoing performance management; empower the Billing Manager to oversee daily operations effectively.
  • Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to monitor key revenue metrics, develop reports on accounts receivable and performance indicators, and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Establish annual goals aligned with organizational objectives, monitor progress, and implement process improvements based on trend analysis.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding updates, payer policies, and reimbursement methodologies, serving as a strategic resource for leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and compliance standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and accreditation requirements.
  • Represent the revenue cycle team in leadership meetings, fostering collaborative relationships with external payers and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute academic credentials.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in revenue cycle processes, including billing, coding, collections, and denial management.
  • Strong knowledge of payer contracting, reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory compliance, especially within FQHC settings.
  • Proficiency with healthcare billing systems (e.g., eCW, Epic) and data analytics tools.
  • Deep understanding of HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and state-specific reimbursement structures, particularly in New York.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience developing and leading high-performance teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, capable of working effectively with clinical, operational, and executive teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of implementing initiatives that improve financial performance and reduce denials.
  • Ability to analyze KPIs, develop action plans, and manage vendor relations and contract negotiations.
