Job Description
Our client, a prominent healthcare provider committed to excellence and community well-being, is hiring a Director of Nursing for the Emergency Room.
As a vital leader within the hospital’s nursing team, the Director of Nursing for the Emergency Room will oversee the daily operations during evening and night shifts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role offers the opportunity to lead with innovation, foster a collaborative culture, and shape nursing practices that meet regulatory standards and promote staff development.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the overall operations of the Emergency Room nursing department during evening and night shifts.
- Assign, plan, and evaluate nursing care, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and standards.
- Implement organizational plans for nursing services, defining relationships with other disciplines to promote a cohesive work environment.
- Lead and evaluate nursing personnel, including Assistant Directors, Supervisors, and Head Nurses.
- Maintain compliance with accreditation and regulatory bodies, including the Joint Commission.
- Promote a positive work culture through effective communication, conflict resolution, and staff development initiatives.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and collaborate with hospital leadership to meet strategic goals.
- Serve as a resource and support for staff, fostering a culture of respect, community, and continuous learning.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Magnet standards, working closely with relevant organizational leaders.
Requirements:
- Valid New York State license and current registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Master’s degree in Nursing Administration or related field from an accredited institution.
- At least four years of high-level hospital nursing administration experience, with a minimum of three years in a managerial role.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and healthcare regulations.
- Ability to manage change effectively, promote teamwork, and foster a positive environment.
- Knowledge of labor relations, including union relationships and grievance processes.
