Job Description
Our client, a nationally recognized hospital at the forefront of compassionate end-of-life care for terminally ill adults, is seeking a Palliative Care Nurse Manager with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). This leadership role is ideal for a mission-driven nurse leader dedicated to excellence in palliative and geriatric care. The Palliative Care Nurse Manager will oversee a 50-bed inpatient unit, managing clinical and administrative operations on a 24-hour basis. This leader will plan, coordinate, direct, and evaluate unit activities and staff performance to ensure delivery of exceptional patient-centered care. The Nurse Manager will also collaborate cross-functionally to align unit goals with hospital-wide standards and participate actively in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. As Nurse Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting patients, families, and staff during some of life’s most meaningful moments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage nursing operations for a 50-bed palliative care unit.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality care in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, institutional nursing standards, and geriatric best practices.
- Promote a culture of clinical excellence, compassion, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate nursing staff performance.
- Optimize resource allocation and operational efficiency.
- Partner with other departments to meet the physiological, psychological, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
- Drive continuous improvement through participation in quality assessment and performance improvement programs.
Qualifications:
- Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license (in good standing).
- 3–5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, preferably in palliative, hospice, or geriatric settings.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
