Job Description
Our client, a non-for-profit organization providing a range of services to vulnerable children and families in NYC, is hiring a Psychiatrist, Child and Adolescent.
Responsibilities:
- Psychiatric evaluations and medication management in Community and School Based Behavioral Health Programs
- Support a patient population that includes both community and foster children across the New York City area
- Provides direct patient care: initial psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic evaluations, medication evaluations and management
- Reviews medical history, orders laboratory tests and reviews results
- Responsible for emergency evaluations to detect and diagnose behavioral health disorders as needed
- Reviews and signs off on treatment plans generated by Social Workers
- Provides consultation to behavioral health and medical staff on psychiatric diagnosis and /or management issues
- Provides psycho-education to parents/ caregivers and children regarding medication and possible side effects
Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine, with an approved residency in psychiatry
- Board certified/eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Licensed to practice in the State of New York
- Completed approved child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training program
- Additional 2-3 experience in a post-residency clinical health care environment preferred
