Job Description

Our client, a leading academic medical center affiliated with prominent healthcare institutions in New York City, is hiring a Regional Chair of Pathology. This pivotal role offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and visionary leader to guide a comprehensive pathology program that serves diverse populations across multiple hospital sites. 

The Regional Chair of Pathology will oversee all departmental operations, ensuring high standards of patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. This includes supervising staff, fostering professional development, and spearheading recruitment and retention efforts. The candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to academic activities, and participate actively in departmental and institutional leadership. The role provides an excellent platform to influence pathology practice across the region and participate in cutting-edge clinical and translational research.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Department of Pathology across multiple hospital sites.
  • Manage daily operations, personnel supervision, and ensure compliance with standards set by regulatory agencies such as CAP, NYDOH, and AABB.
  • Maintain high-quality diagnostic services across anatomic and clinical pathology subspecialties, including Cytopathology, Surgical Pathology, Autopsy, and Molecular Pathology.
  • Facilitate ongoing professional development, recruitment, and retention of pathology staff.
  • Engage actively in teaching, research, and multidisciplinary tumor boards.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to support institutional goals and operational efficiency.
  • Represent the department at institutional, regional, and national levels.

Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree with Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology or Combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
  • Valid New York State Medical License, DEA, and Medicaid certification.
  • Proven leadership experience in an academic, hospital, or public health setting.
  • Strong clinical expertise demonstrated through a robust record of diagnostic competence.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills.
  • Experience with quality management, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Prior management or leadership roles preferred.
