Job Description

Our client, a renowned academic medical center and integrated healthcare delivery system, is currently seeking to hire a Physician Assistant (PA), Inpatient Oncology to cover the night-shift. 

Responsibilities of the Physician Assistant (PA), Inpatient Oncology:

  • Obtain complete histories and perform pertinent physical exams, assessing normal and abnormal findings on new and returning patients.

  • Keep the Nurse Manager and Supervising Physician informed regarding needs, problem areas, and suggestions that may benefit the service.

  • Provide focused support to the physician team for Inpatient Oncology, Leukemia, and Soft Tissue Tumor cases.

  • Collaborate with consult services in the diagnosis and treatment of various oncologic conditions, including benign and malignant soft tissue tumors such as sarcomas.

  • Assist in coordinating and interpreting diagnostic workups for soft tissue tumors, including imaging, biopsies, and pathology reports.

  • Participate in perioperative management of soft tissue tumor patients, including pre-surgical planning, post-operative monitoring, symptom control, and survivorship care.

  • Interpret diagnostic testing, including but not limited to EKGs, Holter monitors, echocardiograms, and stress testing.

  • Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests, examinations, screening procedures, and therapeutic procedures, including blood and blood products.

  • Effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.

  • Facilitate collaboration between providers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.

  • Provide and coordinate patient teaching and counseling.

  • Administer, order, furnish, and/or prescribe medications in accordance with established protocols and scope of practice.

Requirements:

  • Physician Assistant Certification
  • New York State License
