Description: Hiring a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner for an inpatient unit of a highly reputable organization is currently seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner. The program is renowned for the range and quality of our inpatient and specialty programs and general psychiatric services. The Primary Care Nurse Practitioner must provide direct clinical care including assessment, medication management and medication administration. The Primary Care Nurse Practitioner must possess ability to work autonomously, collaborating with physician, peers and others in the health care community. The Primary Care Nurse Practitioner candidate should have experience working with psychiatric clients as well as with co-occurring substance abuse disorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains and documents subjective history (interval or comprehensive) as appropriate to chief complaint or reason for visit. 
  • Conducts regular physical exam, documenting pertinent positive and negative findings. 
  • Identifies a diagnostic impression and/or formulates a differential based on the subjective and objective data obtained. 
  • Formulates goal-directed plan that includes health maintenance, anticipatory guidance and appropriate medical and nursing interventions according to established protocols/practice agreement. 
  • Asses and documents patient response to treatment interventions. 
  • Obtains and documents subjective history (interval or comprehensive) as appropriate to chief complaint or reason for visit. 
  • Participate sin departmental staff meetings and committees as requires and appropriate

Educational Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or completed alternative certification requirements for graduates of nurse practitioner programs prior to April 1,1998 (Required), BSN and/or MSN preferred 
  • National Board Certification in specialty area. 
  • Must possess New York State prescriptive rights 
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License
  • Current New York State License as Nurse Practitioner in area of practice
  • National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the specialty of practice
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Required ANCC Certification
  • Behavioral health background preferred
