Title: Nurse Practitioner, Men’s Shelter
Location: Brooklyn, NY

Description: Our client, a network of healthcare centers in New York City providing high-quality integrated medical care, is hiring Nurse Practitioner, Men’s Shelter. The Nurse Practitioner, Men’s Shelter, will provide onsite support to residents at an innovative shelter for men. The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive medical evaluation, education and management for clients that present for routine, preventative, acute and chronic disease health care services at the site.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assess and interpret medical and psycho-social histories as well as perform physical examinations
• Consult with clients with abnormal conditions or other medical, psychological or social problems to the collaborating physician
• Performs or orders laboratory tests and interprets the results
• Prescribe medication when appropriate for residents who need their ongoing medications refilled and if additional medications are indicated for new problems
• Conduct health teaching and counseling during the medical encounter, enabling the client to make informed choices about health and treatment options
• Apply infection control measures
Job Requirements:
• Valid NYS Nurse Practitioner License
• DEA license and CPR certification
• 2+ years of experience as a Nurse practitioner
• Maintains CMEs/CEUs required for licensure
• Maintains Infection Control certification.
• Experience in harm reduction principles is preferred.
• Experience and knowledge of HIV/AIDS primary care a plus.
• Experience and knowledge of managing clients with substance abuse preferred.
• Ability to understand and be sensitive to issues facing the LGBTQ community
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
