Job Description
Our client, a teaching hospital with multiple ambulatory sites, is hiring a Medical Director, Ambulatory Medical Group. The Medical Director provides leadership, oversight, evaluation and direction of medical operations. With a focus on patient care, the Medical Director assures adequate provider productivity within a quality assurance process and patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee ambulatory site activities related to the delivery of medical services to the community.
- Provide medical services to patients in conformity with clinic protocols and the code of ethics of the NYS Department of Health, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local standards and contributes to the efficiency of health center operations
- Perform oversight of clinical services provided to patients by the staff
- Monitors and ensures that the performance quality by clinical staff meets federal, state and local standards.
- Reviews and resolves patient complaints directly related to medical care.
- Creates, assists, maintains, modifies and implements policies and procedures in compliance with current accepted professional standards.
- Ensures that all requirements of the electronic medical record are met, including but not limited to, documentation of patient encounters, meaningful use, patient self-management goals and review of patient laboratory data.
- Ensures that professional persons and facilities used for patient referrals meet the applicable standards of care.
- Knowledgeable in NYS DOH guidelines and ensures that the organization maintains compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements.
- Conducts provider staff meetings and ensures meeting documentation is maintained.
- Serves as a content resource, along with the Chief Medical Information Officer, for electronic health records
- Provides oversight of all Provider Quality of Care, Patient Safety and Patient Experience.
- Directs the quality assessment and quality assurance/improvement program
- Establishes and maintains a patient care audit process that ensures the quality of care provided meets acceptable standards.
- Coordinates the internal peer review process and patient chart review
- Develops positive relationships with EHS Director of Network Development Performs patient history, physical exam and treatment plans.
- Performs duties using the electronic health record system including but not limited to documentation of patient encounters, meaningful use, patient self-management goals, closing of patient encounters and review of patient laboratory data.
- Ensures medical record documentation meets medical-legal standards.
- Assists senior management in meeting all internal and external performance and reporting requirements.
- Assists in setting and managing organizational performance goals. Recruits professional medical staff new hires.
- Serves as a role model and is accountable and responsible for ensuring optimal performance of clinical operations; quality of care, customer service and productivity.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in medical directorship/ healthcare management/ administration, with work history demonstrating progressive increase in level and breadth of responsibility.
- Degree from an accredited school of medicine as well as postgraduate training or equivalent certification by the AMA or AOA.
- Possesses or eligible to obtain a license to practice medicine issued by the State of New York.
- Board certification by a recognized US Board of Medicine.
- BCLS certification, ACLS preferred.
- Current valid DEA license.
- Maintains knowledge of medical advances through continuing education.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Leadership skills.
- Excellent analytical, organization and planning skills.
- Knowledge of project management tools, methods, and best practices.
- Outstanding interpersonal and cooperation skills.
- Ability to participate as a team member and work independently, with limited supervision
- Ability to use judgment, tact and discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and demands, establish priorities and work effectively in a deadline driven environment; accuracy and attention to detail in the perfonnance of duties is of critical importance.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
- Knowledge and experience with electronic medical records
