Are you ready to lead with impact in a cutting-edge clinical laboratory? Our client, a premier community teaching hospital in the vibrant New York metropolitan area, is seeking an experienced Laboratory Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of their clinical laboratory, including Anatomic Pathology. This role is pivotal in ensuring excellence across laboratory services while supporting a mission-driven organization committed to quality patient care and education.
What You'll Do:
Staff Leadership:
- Manage the customer service department and provide oversight for Point of Care (POC), compliance, and regulatory functions.
- Foster a collaborative, results-driven team environment, ensuring staff are engaged, well-trained, and aligned with departmental goals.
Quality Excellence:
- Design and implement Quality Improvement Monitors in collaboration with the Laboratory Director.
- Prepare monthly performance reports to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure full compliance with College of American Pathologists (CAP) standards, overseeing proficiency testing programs and personnel competency initiatives.
Operational Management:
- Maintain contracts and optimize workflows through SOP modifications and process improvements.
- Partner with IT to troubleshoot and enhance LIS functionality.
- Manage and update laboratory manuals and documentation as needed.
Budget Oversight:
- Collaborate with leadership to prepare and monitor annual labor and operating budgets, ensuring financial accountability and strategic resource allocation.
Customer Service & Patient Satisfaction:
- Serve as the primary liaison for Press Ganey reports, identifying areas for improvement and working closely with site directors to implement solutions.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive management experience in a laboratory setting.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification: ASCP certification is a must.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal abilities
- Proven expertise in Quality/Regulatory Compliance and Performance Improvement programs.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to engage at all levels, from executive leadership to front-line staff.
