Description: Hiring an Internal Medicine Physician for a prominent healthcare center in NYC that is part of a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Their mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS. Their skilled team of doctors and nurses provide the best in quality care. The center is designed to provide top-quality medical care in a clean, safe environment. The Internal Medicine Physician will provide care to the underserved population dealing with HIV/AIDS and substance abuse. 

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete history and physical examinations
  • Provides primary medical care to people of all ages and manages acute and chronic conditions
  • Assesses patients’ conditions and age-specific medical needs
  • Collaborate with other health care providers in planning interventions to best meet patients’ needs in a timely manner and to promote the continuum of care
  • Perform direct patient care procedures including but not limited to venipuncture and in accordance with agency policies and procedures, acceptable standards of practice, and in accordance with approved delineation of privileges
  • Serve as the collaborating physician for the agency’s Family Nurse Practitioners
  • Participate in the development of standards of care as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer and/or provider designee
  • Provide patient advocacy
  • Participates in the Quality Management Program
  • Provides health promotion and disease prevention education specific to the needs of the HIV/AIDS patient
  • Participates in the development of patient care protocols.

Education Requirements:

  • Licensed by the New York State to practice medicine
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine
  • HIVMA or AAHIVM certification

Experience Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in HIV primary care
  • Experience in Primary Care and clinical management of persons with HIV/AIDS and experience is harm reduction principles is preferred

Desired Skills:

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
