Description: Hiring an Infectious Disease Physician, Epidemiologist for a top medical center. The Infectious Disease Physician, Epidemiologist will oversee Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Antibiotic Stewardship programs. The Infectious Disease Physician, Epidemiologist will provide consultation to other clinical services, Occupational Health, Performance Improvement, Patient Safety, Environmental Health Services, EPIC/ IT, Regulatory Affairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the IPC MDs for outbreaks/ clusters/ emerging pathogens/ occupational exposures (in concert with Director of Employee Health)
  • Strategic planning/priorities, including oversight of IPC risk assessment; address regulatory issues and reporting requirements (system wide)
  • Serve as point person for contact with Department of Health and other regulatory agencies
  • Serve as point person for media inquiries
  • Direct cross campus IPC policy development, revision and implementation
  • Oversight of surveillance data at system level
  • Chair the Infection Prevention & Control Committee
  • Provides consultation to other clinical services, Occupational Health, Performance Improvement, Patient Safety, Environmental Health Services, EPIC/ IT, Regulatory Affairs
  • Communicates with leadership and leadership at each
  • Serve as lead content expert for Bioterror & Emerging pathogens
  • Build external reputation and research agenda to garner resources for expansion of staff, particularly in areas of outcomes and implementation research as it pertains to IPC and ASP
  • Build educational agenda for Infectious Disease Physician and other clinical stakeholders in IPC.
  • 20% clinical effort, inpatient or outpatient at the discretion of the ID division chief

Education Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease
  • MPH/MS, CDC EIS or other formal training in Epidemiology OR established history of research in related field

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in faculty positions as an Associate or Full Professor
  • Five or more years of experience in the practice of healthcare epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship, antibiotic resistance in an academic setting, public health or equivalent
