Job Description
Human Resources Generalist
Our client, a non-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) that facilitates organ and tissue recovery, is hiring a Human Resources Generalist who is responsible for activities that support the company’s hiring process, employee benefits program, coaching, creating and implementing culture changes and personnel records administration.
Responsibilities:
- Recruits for non-exempt and exempt positions, including part time and per diem positions.
- Completes all phases of the interviewing/selection process:
- Writing job postings and ads and placing copy for all open positions; if necessary.
- Providing guidance and direction to the hiring managers
- Screening resumes, conducting pre-screen phone interview, interviewing candidates and coordinating interviews
- Follow-up with candidates on position status
- Initiating reference and background check procedures Negotiates salary offers, in conjunction with VP, HR and HR Manager. Assists with the development and organization of new hire orientation. Acts as a benefits counselor to staff.
- Assists in processing benefit enrollment, termination and change forms.
- Creates and maintains all employee personnel, medical and training files and records. Maintains and ensures confidentiality of all paper and electronic files as well as personnel information.
- Counsels employees/managers on routine employee issues. Gives consistent answers that can be supported by the organization's human resources policies.
- Maintains organization's EEO compliance and ACA. Plans and creates reports as needed. Compiles necessary records and follows appropriate record keeping.
- Answers internal and external questions, by phone and in person on matters related to job opportunities, benefits and general information.
- Develops, implements and maintains a corporate-wide recognition program.
- Acts as the company’s culture ambassador driving internal and external awareness of company core values. Acts as a spokesperson for teamwork, positivity, accountability, integrity and honesty.
- Supports fellow employees to further achieve the mission by living the core values. Focuses on cultural development and driving people engagement around the company brand, mission and vision.
- Mobilizes the energy, passion and enthusiasm of employees. Coordinates and facilitates events such as team-building, milestone events and celebrations.
- Coordinates termination packets and schedules exit interview for outgoing employees.
- Regularly measures employee engagement.
- Conducts stay and off-boarding interviews. Administers and analyzes employee engagement survey. Communicates results and creates action plans.
Requirements:
- Minimum of four years human resources generalist experience or bachelor’s degree and two year human resources generalist experience , including 1-2 years recruiting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, judgment skills and employment law knowledge required.
- Basic knowledge of human resources principles and practices required.
- Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of personnel work and convey a positive and professional image to applicants and employees.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel) and familiarity with payroll procedures are needed.
- Master's degree preferred.
