Job Description

Our client, a mission-driven Federally Qualified Health Center committed to transforming value-based care in underserved communities, is hiring a Chief Financial Officer CPA. This essential leadership role offers a unique opportunity for a visionary financial executive dedicated to improving healthcare access and outcomes through strategic financial stewardship. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will oversee all financial functions, ensuring operational excellence and compliance within a complex regulatory environment. The successful candidate will drive fiscal sustainability, foster innovation, and develop a high-performing team aligned with the organization’s mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership aligned with the health center’s mission and long-term objectives.
  • Oversee all accounting and financial operations, maintaining compliance with GAAP, federal cost principles, and FQHC requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor annual operational and capital budgets in collaboration with the executive team.
  • Prepare and present timely financial reports for grants, contracts, and funding sources.
  • Manage revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, and reimbursement from Medicaid, Medicare, and other payers.
  • Monitor cash flow, oversee banking relationships, and perform reconciliation of accounts.
  • Lead financial forecasting, analyze revenue and expenditure trends, and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Ensure robust internal controls and risk management processes.
  • Supervise and cultivate fiscal department staff through hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Present financial updates to the Board and executive leadership.
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Support organizational growth with sound financial planning, scenario modeling, and sustainable investment strategies.

Requirements:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or similar) preferred.
  • 5–10+ years of progressive financial leadership, ideally within FQHC, nonprofit healthcare, or community health settings.
  • Proven experience managing complex budgets, grants, and federal reimbursements.
  • Extensive knowledge of value-based care, healthcare compliance, HRSA, and federal funding mechanisms.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.
  • Critical thinking, strategic planning capabilities, and an ethical, transparent leadership style.
