Job Description
The Director of Hospital Security is responsible for directing all security functions within the hospital, establishing and maintaining the department in accordance with ethical and professional practices and legal requirements. This position leads security personnel in creating and maintaining a secure environment for patients, employees, and visitors while protecting hospital assets. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and secure healthcare environment while promoting a culture of security awareness throughout the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and communicate strategic security and safety plans for the hospital community
- Direct and oversee security personnel to ensure comprehensive facility protection
- Manage patient restraint protocols and ensure staff competency
- Lead security awareness and training programs for hospital staff
- Coordinate security investigations with Risk Management and other departments
- Maintain relationships with local law enforcement and community groups
- Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and equipment
- Develop and manage department annual budget
- Conduct facility-wide security assessments and risk analyses
- Monitor and report security incidents and maintain accurate data
- Chair Hospital Wide Safety Committee meetings and communications
- Ensure comprehensive security coverage across all hospital facilities
- Maintain high standards of staff training and competency
- Deliver timely response to security incidents and investigations
- Achieve budget targets and operational efficiency
- Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement in security protocols and procedures
