Job Description
Our client, a leading FQHC with multiple multi-specialty sites in Brooklyn, is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities Management. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of facilities management, including building maintenance, engineering, housekeeping, and safety practices. The Director will ensure compliance with HRSA, NYC, NYS Department of Health, OSHA, and Joint Commission regulations, as well as the organization’s internal policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities:
- Facilities Oversight: Ensure all facilities are maintained at high standards of cleanliness, safety, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. Oversee all maintenance, housekeeping, and service practices, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Develop, implement, and update Environment of Care (EOC) procedures and protocols. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements across sites, including conducting safety drills and surveillance rounds per Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
- Construction & Renovation Projects: Serve as the in-house liaison for planning and executing renovations, improvements, and expansions in consultation with the capital projects team.
- Emergency Preparedness & Safety Management: Act as the Fire and Safety Director and Director of Emergency Preparedness. Conduct fire drills, train staff, including fire wardens, and prepare after-action reports. Ensure all emergency preparedness protocols are up-to-date and effectively communicated to staff.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and evaluate the EOC team to ensure high performance and compliance with safety and maintenance standards. Conduct regular meetings to discuss new developments in patient safety, emergency management, and security.
- Vendor and Contract Management: Manage vendor relationships for maintenance, security, and other facility-related services. Oversee vendor contracts, review invoices, and submit for processing.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Prepare and draft proposals, policies, and procedures related to facilities management and EOC. Ensure adherence to policies outlined in the Environment of Care Manual.
- Security Management: Oversee security operations, including managing outsourced security vendor contracts and onsite security staff to minimize risks such as theft, vandalism, and assault.
- Compliance with City Agencies: Respond to city agencies regarding mandatory requirements such as elevator filings, gas line inspections, and other reporting obligations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of supervisory or managerial experience in facilities management, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- NYC Fire and Safety Certificate of Fitness.
- Strong knowledge of Joint Commission standards for Environment of Care.
- Familiarity with NYS Department of Health (DOH) Article 28 standards.
- Proven experience in emergency management and regulatory compliance.
