Job Description

Our client, a leading child and adolescent counseling center, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Residential Services (LCSW) to lead clinical and milieu operations within their Residential Treatment Facility (RTF). This vital role ensures the seamless integration of therapeutic services and milieu programming to support transformative outcomes for youth with emotional and behavioral challenges. The Director of Residential Services is responsible for the strategic vision, clinical leadership, and operational oversight of all residential treatment programming. This includes supervision of clinical and milieu teams, program development, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration. The role is central to ensuring trauma-informed, youth-driven care that aligns with best practices and measurable performance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, direct, and coordinate all aspects of clinical and therapeutic milieu operations within the RTF.
  • Guide and support clinical supervisors, transitional coordinators, and milieu management to ensure high-functioning, collaborative service delivery.
  • Ensure effective integration of clinical and milieu therapy practices that promote youth and family-centered care.
  • Serve as a senior leader and core member of the interdisciplinary leadership team.
  • Oversee clinical programming, including comprehensive treatment planning, transitions of care, and case conferencing.
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision, including performance evaluations and professional development of middle management.
  • Partner with medical, psychiatric, and operations teams to deliver integrated care across all residential services.
  • Serve as a liaison to residents’ families, supporting communication, engagement, and continuity of care.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinical training standards and learning collaboratives for residential staff.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, accreditation bodies, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at reducing length of stay, preventing crisis, and optimizing outcomes.
  • Maintain strong external partnerships to support continuity of care and successful youth transitions.
  • Direct supervision of Clinical Supervisors and Unit Leaders.
  • Lead staffing decisions including hiring, termination, training, supervision, assignments, and corrective actions.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations and resolve team concerns with adherence to agency policies and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Psychologist, or Psychiatrist.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a residential or clinical setting.
  • LCSW-R credential, preferred
  • Experience with trauma-informed care models, preferred
  • Familiarity with youth and family engagement strategies in residential settings, preferred.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, punctuality, and adherence to safety and confidentiality standards.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, development, and maintaining relevant licensure.
  • Ability to meet performance and productivity expectations with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strict compliance with HIPAA and all confidentiality protocols.
