Description: Hiring a Director, Patient Services (Medical and Pharma) for a top academic medical center and integrated healthcare delivery system, is currently seeking to hire a Director, Patient Services (Medical and Pharma). The Director, Patient Services (Medical and Pharma) will be the leader for sourcing all medical and pharmaceutical-related non-labor spend (except spend related to surgical, implants, and imaging). The Director, Patient Services (Medical and Pharma), will lead the identification, delivery, and implementation of strategic and tactical projects associated with delivering value and savings for this category across all member entities.  The Director, Patient Services (Medical and Pharma) will oversee multiple Category Managers and Contract Administrators who have more detailed focuses on specific sub-categories.  System-wide spending in this category is $600M; involves >50 suppliers with major spend.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of the category – including the specific Category Strategies handled by each individual Category Manager – in partnership with hospital / AECOM leadership Act as thought leader and participate in strategic planning activities
  • Act as thought leader and participate in strategic planning activities
  • Analyze key inputs including organization needs, volume projections, and market / supply base benchmarks and trends
  • Lead development of negotiation strategies and drive negotiations for supplier agreements
  • Monitor supplier performance, identify cost reduction opportunities, and create competition among suppliers
  • Manage ongoing supplier relationships to ensure responsiveness and partnering behavior
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify, pursue, and capture spend-related improvements, including make / buy decisions
  • Develop a team of Procurement professionals to ensure procurement goals are achieved
  • Manage and oversee group workload to ensure activities are prioritized

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business required, MBA preferred

Experience Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with procurement ideally in industry/pharma/bio med/major healthcare suppliers and supply chain operations
  • Experience leading negotiations, contracting, and supplier relationship management
  • Experience with ERP system

Desired Skills:

  • Specific knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical goods and services, as well as supplier landscape, is highly desirable
