Description: Hiring a Department Administrator for a top academic medical center. The Department Administrator is responsible for providing leadership support and overall administrative direction for an academic department, which includes the management of non-physician staff. The Department Administrator, will develop and maintain of financial, operational, quality and service standards and mechanisms to monitor performance.


  • Directs and manages the fiscal, operational, human and information resources.
  • Identifies key performance indicators for various areas including operational performance, staff development, quality of care, community engagement, and departmental efficiency.
  • Oversees and directs a range of administrative, operational, fiscal, strategic, quality, customer service and activities to ensure departments meet goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for compliance with all Regulatory and Health System standards.
  • Partners with Human Resources and oversees professional development, manages employee performance and talent acquisition. Develops talent succession plans for leadership. Provides direction to and supervises management and department staff.
  • Generates and fosters partnerships across the enterprise to develop and drive value added services that will advance the mission.
  • Prepares budgets and execute capital projects.
  • Develops budget and monitors and authorizes expenditures on all budgetary grant and discretionary funds of the departments.
  • Oversees administrative services provided to all faculty within departments. Develops and implements strategic plans for recruitment of faculty
  • Plans, develops and recommends new programs
  • Prepares, reviews and processes productivity payments to clinical providers.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field. Master s preferred

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of health care administration, financial experience in budget planning, business process analysis, human resource management and program development.
  • Experience in an academic medical setting is preferred
