Description: Hiring a Client Manager for a fast-growing entrepreneurial company that provides a full range of financial management services to not-for-profit agencies in New York City. By allowing clients to outsource their fiscal operations, our client improves the effectiveness and capacity of its mission-driven clients. The Client Manager will serve as the CFO/ Fiscal Manager for clients and will be considered a member of the clients’ executive management team. The Client Manager will be responsible for the fiscal management of the organization and for providing financial analysis and fiscal advice. This requires delivering high quality, accurate and timely financial reporting and advisory services. The Client Manager is supported by a team of accountants, contract managers, accounts payable and billing processors.

Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with client’ s executive director and senior management on a consistent basis to review the financial position and health of the agency, identify and resolve issues
  • Assure the production of accurate and timely financial reports including financial statements, contract summaries, and cash flow reports
  • Communicate research and analyses of financial results, fiscal trends and potential issues, including written reports to agency’ s board of directors
  • Manage his/her client team which includes senior and junior accountants and contract managers. The Client Manager establishes the client teams monthly calendar and manages the services of accounts payable and billing personnel that operate from centralized functional departments
  • Develop and implement financial operations improvements
  • Work with the functional department heads to ensure compliance with government contracts, preparation and timeliness of audits and efficiencies within workflow processes.
  • Create the annual agency budget, including primary department breakdowns.

Educational Requirements:
  • MBA, MPA or comparable advanced degree preferred

Experience Requirements:
  • Seven plus years of experience and growing responsibility in financial accounting, consulting, management, or budgeting.
  • Supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to motivate staff, work effectively with colleagues and report upstream effectively

Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of general finance principles, including forecasting, variance analysis and financial statement analysis. Demonstrated ability to understand financial statements and operations, to partner with financial staff, and to translate financial information for managerial action; able to evaluate client’ s often complex financial structures
  • Demonstrates a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness; seeks to promote and improve the quality of work products and customer service. Comfortable and facile with spreadsheets and using technology to improve productivity and effectiveness
  • The ability to manage and control many issues simultaneously, track multiple schedules and manage staff while remaining effective and efficient.
