Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • The Podiatry Division involves the treatment of a broad range of pathologic entities, including both conservative and surgical options.
  • The incumbent is expected to make and implement sound and reasonable decisions, demonstrate above-average personal and team performance/cooperation, and pay exemplary attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Clinical duties include admission history and physicals, preoperative evaluations, orders, progress notes, aftercare plans, and discharge summaries.
  • The incumbent must remain privileged and practicing in their specialty field, with privileges and procedures approved by the Professional Standards Board.
  • The Chief of Podiatry and Program Director of Podiatry will serve as the administrator of the residency program. The Program Director must be a member of the medical staff. We are looking for a highly qualified individual who can fulfill the responsibilities of both Chief of Podiatry and Program Director of Podiatry.
  • The program director is responsible for the overall administration of the residency.
  • The program director must possess appropriate clinical, administrative, and teaching qualifications suitable for implementing the residency and achieving the stated competencies.
  • The program director must ensure equitable training experiences for each resident.
  • Responsibilities include maintaining records related to the educational program, communicating with the Residency Review Committee and Council on Podiatric Medical Education, scheduling training experiences, providing instruction and supervision, reviewing and verifying logs, evaluating residents, periodically reviewing and revising curriculum content, and conducting program self-assessment.
  • Provide compassionate, appropriate, and effective patient care for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and end-of-life care.

  • Patient Care: The practitioner must
  • Medical/Clinical Knowledge: The practitioner must demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical, and social sciences, and apply this knowledge to patient care and education.
  • Clinical Judgment: The practitioner must use scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: The practitioner must establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Professional Development and Ethical Practice: The practitioner must demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, understanding and sensitivity to diversity, and a responsible attitude towards patients and the profession.
  • Leadership: The practitioner should demonstrate leadership in promoting the distinctive and contributory role of the podiatric surgeon in providing Podiatry care within the institution.
  • MD or DO
  • Board certified in Podiatry preferred. Will consider board eligible
  • Licensed to practice in the State of New York
