Job Description
Our client, a full service medical center and teaching hospital in the New York Metro Area, is hiring a Chief Operating Officer. Are you a strategic leader with a passion for healthcare operations? Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of this hospital. As COO, you’ll have the authority and autonomy to lead key operations, foster collaboration across departments, and ensure the delivery of top-tier healthcare services in alignment with our mission. With the CEO's full support, you’ll drive efficiency, foster innovation, and shape the patient experience across multiple departments, including Operations, Facilities Management, Clinical Services, and more.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Partner with the CEO to develop, implement, and monitor programs, policies, and strategic goals that drive operational excellence.
- Operational Oversight: Lead key functions, including Facilities Management, Clinical Operations, Ancillary Services, and Emergency Preparedness, ensuring smooth, compliant, and effective operations.
- Compliance and Accreditation: Maintain readiness for inspections by regulatory bodies and accreditation agencies, ensuring adherence to healthcare standards and regulations.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Facilitate seamless communication between departments, corporate offices, medical staff, and multidisciplinary committees.
- Resource Management: Recommend purchases of equipment and supplies, as well as oversee construction, renovation, and equipment replacement projects in line with policy.
- Team Development: Establish performance standards, provide feedback and coaching, and foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Budget Oversight: Collaborate with leadership to develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring operations remain within budgetary guidelines.
- Crisis Management: Coordinate emergency management operations and maintain critical relationships with external partners, regulatory agencies, and professional organizations.
- Executive Support: Serve as acting CEO in the CEO’s absence, ensuring continuity of operations and decision-making.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Medical Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 6+ years of executive-level experience in healthcare or public administration, with significant exposure to hospital operations and community healthcare needs.
- Extensive knowledge of hospital administration practices, healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and maintain high-performance standards.
