Job Description
Our client, a not-for-profit teaching hospital serving an ethnically diverse residential neighborhood of New York City, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiac Electrophysiologist to join their multidisciplinary team. This role is ideal for a cardiologist with expertise in diagnosing and treating complex heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias) using catheter-based techniques and implantable devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and manage patients with abnormal heart rhythms.
- Perform electrophysiology studies (EP studies) to assess electrical signals in the heart.
- Conduct cardioversion or defibrillation procedures to restore normal heart rhythms.
- Perform catheter ablation to eliminate abnormal electrical pathways.
- Implant and manage pacemakers and defibrillators.
- Utilize rhythm recording and heart imaging techniques, including electrocardiograms (EKGs), Holter monitors, and event monitoring.
- Conduct transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) as necessary.
- Utilize advanced imaging techniques such as computed tomography (CT) and cardiac MRI.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary cardiology team to develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
- Educate patients and families on cardiovascular conditions and treatment options.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree with board certification in Cardiology and subspecialty training in Electrophysiology.
- Valid medical license to practice in New York State.
- Strong technical expertise in electrophysiology procedures and device implantation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse healthcare setting.
