Description: Our client, a long-standing established and growing practice in Westchester County NY, is hiring an Account Receivable Specialist.
Responsibilities:
• Following RCM workflow, review outstanding balances and follow up with patients and insurance carriers for account resolution and maximizing reimbursement to practice
• Record and document all actions taken in appropriate systems
• Address insurance denials, write and submit timely reconsiderations and appeals following insurance carrier guidelines
• Update patient demographics on Practice Management System (PMS)
• Verify insurance and benefits
• Obtain signed RCM departmental forms as well as forms required by any state agencies and/or third-party payors and insurance carriers from patients
• Promptly respond to all correspondence and provide requested information to ensure timely resolution of accounts
• Handle all patient and insurance carrier communications
• Speak with and address out of pocket amounts and balances with patients
• Address Insurance Carrier, Third-Party and Patient Refund Requests
• File all work in batches, including any written correspondence sent from this office, and document the patient’s account in the PM/EMR system
• Produce A/R reports and tasks, stay current on assigned accounts
• Advise managers and director of any problems or changes in payer requirements
Requirements:
• High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
• 3+ years’ experience in medical practice billing (practice experience preferred) and health insurance reimbursement
• Keep abreast of changes to federal, state and insurance regulations
• Knowledge of Athena Practice and Phreesia software a plus
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office including Word and Excel
