Job Description
Our client, a top teaching hospital in New York City, is hiring an Academic Trauma Surgeon. Join a busy Trauma Center caring for over 1600 trauma admissions per year as well as an extremely active acute care surgery service. The successful candidate will join a group of surgical intensivists managing our dedicated 12-bed Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit as well as an 8-bed Surgical Step-down unit. There is also an opportunity to develop an elective general surgical practice, including use of the DaVinci Surgical Robot.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and stabilize patients
- Performing surgeries
- Help patients navigate treatment options
- Oversee patient recovery
- Teach medical students, general surgery residents and fellows
- Opportunities to participate in research through the well-developed trauma research division
Requirements:
- MD degree
- Board certified/eligible in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
- Valid New York State License
- DEA
- Medicaid number
- Strong clinical abilities, teaching experience, communication and interpersonal skills
