Job Description

Our client, an independent teaching hospital at the forefront of innovative medicine, is hiring an AVP of Financial and Analytical Operations. The AVP of Financial Operations candidate will have a broad set of responsibilities that will encompass oversight of the day-to-day operations of financial operations, revenue cycle reports, analysis as it relates to the physician enterprise. project management, and data analytics/dashboard reporting. All functions will be pursued in close partnerships with all members of the leadership team who represent and not limited to the following key functional areas of Clinical Department Administration, Finance, Revenue Cycle, Information Services, Compliance, Operations, Managed Care, Marketing, and Legal.

Responsibilities:
  • Partners with management, physicians, and staff from the practice to identify financial improvement opportunities such as enhanced business operations, adherence to best practices, improved process flows and staffing models, or integration of new technologies.
  • Develops, plans, organizes, and implements current and future financial strategies to increase and improve cash flow, and manage the overall health of the client’s receivables.
  • Develops a consistent and coordinated billing model that can sustain or improve financial performance.
  • Go to person for all analytical needs for the Chief Revenue Officer, overseeing both physician and hospital revenue.
  • Leads financial planning process and analytics for all business planning, new practice acquisitions, real estate leases, new clinicians.
  • Train staff in financial forecasting, advanced data analytics and regulatory and policy updates that will impact revenue cycle.
  • Manage physician reporting for 500+ doctors, meet and review data with Chairs/Chief and Physicians.
  • Work with FGP budget for volume and revenue projections and design monthly budget variance dashboards
  • Work with SVP of Payor Relations to analyze and interpret reimbursement and benchmarking trends on the insurance plan level.
  • Provides leadership and direction for the revenue cycle and ensures the integrity, accuracy and effectiveness of the professional billing cycle, including charge entry, professional coding, claims processing, cash posting, denial management and placements with third party collection agencies.
  • Analysis and report on provider level payor credentialing status.
  • Work with SVP of Physician Network Operations to develop, implement and track physician compensation models.
  • Excellent customer service.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors’ Degree required, preferably in Health Finance, Hospital Administration, or General Finance. Masters’ Degree preferred.
  • 10+ years-experience in revenue cycle management and optimization, patient financial, patient access, reimbursement, and other related fields.
  • A proven track-record of leading organizations through transformation, significant organizational change and process improvement is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create, develop, and implement staff in-service educational programs.
  • Possesses strong critical thinking skills, shows initiative, with the ability to problem solve independently.
  • Detailed oriented and strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficient with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook in Microsoft Office, and Teams; and ability to create executive presentations using Microsoft Office for physician leadership, the Board of Trustees, senior administration, and department stakeholders.
  • Skilled negotiator with a collaborative approach; ability to handle criticism or challenges, and effectively manages conflict.
  • Ability to build positive and effective relationships; and strong physician relations
