Description: Hiring a Vice President / Chief Operating Officer for a well-respected hospice program.  The Vice President/COO will lead all direct and indirect patient care services.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical agency personnel.
  • Provides guidance and counseling to coordinators and Clinical Supervisors to assist them in continually improving all aspects of hospice care services, provided through agency personnel.
  • Assists Clinical Supervisors in managing clinical teams and planning.
  • Provides help in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and caregiver care
  • Assists the President/CEO in the preparation and administration of the agency's budget
  • Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and increases or decreases in volume
  • Evaluates performance of Clinical Supervisors and all other employees reporting to Vice President/COO.
  • Assists Clinical Supervisors to develop skills and techniques for managing and evaluating clinicians.
  • Hires, evaluates, and terminates all employees reporting to Vice President/COO.
  • Oversees the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports and records
  • Assures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state and federal laws.
  • Oversees the Management and Information System Director who implements and evaluates all electronic and telephonic communication and IT systems as well as ensures that the agency is compliant with the IT rules for Medicare, the New York State Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and all local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Assists with the evaluation of organization performance via performance improvement program, productivity, quarterly and annual reviews. 
  • Assures the quality and safe delivery of hospice services provided through the Organization.
  • Assists in the development of organization goals. 
  • Develops, recommends, and administers Organization policy and procedures.

Educational Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse in the State with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State.
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Nursing or Allied Health Field.
  • Master’ s degree preferred.

Experience Requirements:
  • Three (3) years of senior management experience in a hospice or hospital.

Desired Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.
  • Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
  • Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations and The Joint Commission standards.
