Description: Hiring an Assistant Vice President of Nursing for a top academic medical center. The Assistant Vice President of Nursing actualizes the visions, missions, values and balanced scorecard performance measures for the medical center. The Assistant Vice President of Nursing is accountable with the Vice President for the overall management of activities at the medical center to ensure that quality patient care is delivered.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate management and leadership skills into daily clinical and administrative practice
  • Maintain up-to-date equipment and take accountability for a work environment which is safe, clean, orderly and free of potential hazards
  • Participate in the development of a marketing strategy for recruitment and retention to ensure positive outcomes in the medical center
  • Support ongoing orientation, training, education and professional development for nursing staff in current, new and developing technologies
  • Develop and recommend change to policy, procedure, standards of care/practice based on data-driven decision making
  • Facilitates learning needs of self and staff by providing opportunities for staff development to gain skills necessary to provide age specific care to the patients served
  • Coordinate and serve as a liaison between the medical, support and nursing staffs to ensure that specific issues and problems are communicated and resolved
  • Develop and implement an effective workforce planning strategy in alignment with resources available
  • Participate in development of contractual agreements including, but not limited to, a competitive wage and benefits program for nursing staff
  • Assure the implementation of planned and systematic process for monitoring and evaluating the quality of nursing care and treatment of patients.
  • Support research opportunities in the clinical practice and administrative environment
  • Support the development and implementation of coordinated care management within acute care and into the continuum

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field required. A Doctorate in Nursing degree is preferred

Experience Requirements:

  • 4 plus years managerial experience required
  • 8 plus years clinical experience required
